AstroPay, an online payment provider, has teamed up with Tebca Perú to introduce a prepaid Visa card in the Peruvian market. This initiative aligns with AstroPay’s broader goal of enhancing the accessibility of digital transactions, particularly for individuals lacking conventional banking relationships. The card empowers users to make purchases at any online retailer accepting Visa and even provides cashback incentives.
This rollout holds particular significance due to AstroPay’s established presence within the gaming payment industry, a sector where prepaid cards enjoy widespread adoption.
Following a successful UK debut, AstroPay is eager to broaden its prepaid card program across Latin America, with Brazil, Mexico, and Argentina identified as priority markets.
Guillermo Dotta, AstroPay’s CTO and CPO, underscored the launch’s importance, affirming its contribution to solidifying AstroPay’s status as a prominent participant in Peru’s rapidly expanding payments landscape. He emphasized how the card will not only deliver a more user-friendly financial experience for existing customers but also establish a smooth entry point for unbanked individuals seeking to engage in the digital economy.
Visa is thrilled to collaborate with groundbreaking financial technology firms globally to revolutionize online transactions and extend the advantages of a digital financial system to a wider audience of individuals and enterprises,” stated a Visa representative, Gilberto Chaparro.
AstroPay’s Chief Executive Officer, Mikael Lijtenstein, recently engaged in a discussion with Gambling Insider to delve into the organization’s growth plan, offerings, and projections for the future.
