Circus Casino Expands into Switzerland with Acquisition of Casino de Crans-Montana

The well-known French gaming and leisure corporation, Circus Casino, has broadened its reach into the Swiss market through the purchase of a majority holding in the Casino de Crans-Montana.

This calculated action signifies Circus Casino’s initial foray into Switzerland, augmenting its already substantial collection of seven casinos and a renowned club situated in Paris. The acquisition was executed via the procurement of shares formerly owned by the French firm, Partouche, granting Circus Casino a controlling share of 57.24% in the mountain casino.

The remaining shares are retained by a consortium of local townships, encompassing Crans-Montana, Lens, and Icogne, in addition to the Ispar holding group.

Located in the scenic Valais area, Crans-Montana is a sought-after ski resort, and its casino, founded in 2000, has become a beloved local establishment. Employing a dedicated staff of 53 individuals, the casino provides an assortment of slot machines and table games, generating yearly earnings of roughly 15 million Swiss francs (equivalent to $16.3 million) in 2019.

This purchase is not Circus Casino’s parent company, the Belgian Ardent Group’s, first venture into the Swiss market. In October 2021, Ardent Group secured a dominant stake in the Casino Davos, demonstrating their aspirations for continued growth within the region.

Sébastien Leclercq, the National Director of Circus Casino France, conveyed his excitement regarding the acquisition, remarking, “We are exceptionally pleased to declare our acquisition of the Casino de Crans-Montana. It’s a well-regarded casino with a stellar standing and a devoted clientele cultivated over numerous years.”

This agreement represents a significant strategic maneuver by Ardent Group, demonstrating their dedication to establishing their Circus brand as a leading player in both land-based and digital gaming spheres.”

This action solidifies their position within the Swiss casino market. Concurrently, Gaming1 is keen to capitalize on their current collaboration with Circus Casino in France to deliver an integrated physical-to-virtual experience for Swiss patrons via Circus.ch.
